Intro: My Trip to Israel and the Middle East
On July 6 I returned from an 11 day trip to Israel. I was taken by an incredible organization call AIPAC and would encourage all to join and participate in AIPAC activities. What I will do is post this shorter into, then post info on specific topics so it is not just one enormous post and will be easier to navigate through.
The Purpose of this trip was to take politically active students/recently college graduates to Israel so they could get a much better understanding and experience the difficult and incredibly complex issues that Israel is facing. On our trip AIPAC took us on tours throughout the entire country, speak and have meetings with government officials, speak with authorities on issues such as the Iranian situation and so on. We on average were traveling, in meetings, or touring for about 13 hours a day so I can honestly say I was all around the entire country of Israel. In this and the following posts I will do my best to explain some of the important issues and topics that Israel and the Middle East are encountering today.
First off, I would like to talk a little but about Israel as a country. It is not the war zone that our media would like to make it sound. It is one of the most beautiful and pleasant countries I have ever been to or even seen for that matter. The people love Americans and live their life like any others citizen in a Western modernized Country. They go to the bars like we do, they go to the beach like we do, and they live their life as normal as possible just like we do. If any of you have the opportunity to go to Israel I cannot say this enough… GO!
