Iran
Here is the big one, Iran, specifically Iran’s quest for a nuclear weapon. This is a very difficult and complex situation, which neither I or to my knowledge anyone really has a perfect solution to. I think I could write a small book on this topic, but instead I will do my best to briefly touch on some of the major issues.
First off, Iran as I have stated in numerous other posts is the major problem and issue for Israel, America, and the rest of the peaceful world.
Iran has been for the past 10 to 30 years working on trying to develop a nuclear missile and to some intelligence could be anywhere from 30-90 days away from obtaining one.
A few months ago if you asked an Israeli how the French felt about Israel they would most likely tell you that France hated them and the two do not have a good relationship. However, right after President Bush visited Israel, French President Jacques Chirac visited, which seemed to be a shock to most Israelis. Now you may wonder what happened, what made Chirac visit? The answer is there have more recently been reports that Iran now has a transportation system capable of reaching Paris and the border of the United States. Now and only now the French are starting to truly understand the threat of Iran and are now eager to find a solution to the Iranian problem.
Now on this trip one liberal girl said to a speaker, who is in many regards is an expert on the issue, “What I don’t understand is even if Iran gets a nuclear weapon; they would not be dumb enough to use it, because then everyone would bomb them back.” The speaker agreed and then made the following point… You are right Iran may not be the one necessarily using the nuke, but instead give their Nuclear weapon or technology to some of Iran’s terrorist cells in South Africa, in the Middle East, or another part of the world. This is the major threat, he explained, if Iran has a nuclear bomb they will not hesitate to pass on their technology to those who will smuggle it in to a U.S. port, or to France, Berlin, or to another country. This bomb will not have Iran written on it, we will not know exactly where it is from, and it will make it nearly impossible for us to respond accordingly.
There is so much more that could be said about Iran, but due to the fact that there is a lot more I want to do all day then to blog about Iran this will have to do for now. Questions are welcome though…

do you have a cite for that? first, the most alarmist figure i have seen is 3-5 years from a bomb. second, 7 months ago, u.s. intelligence agencies released a report stating their conclusion that iran suspending its weapons production program in 2003.
alarmist claims about iran are easy to find, which is why a cite is so important. otherwise, you’re just left with a lot of people talking out their ass.

Citation or not, that’s scary. In fact, I heard that Iran developed nuclear weapons 30 to 90 days AGO! We should bomb them yesterday!

As for where did I hear the possible 30 day info… I learned this While I was actually in the middle east, specifically Israel. I was told this by a government official.

that makes perfect sense. the israeli government has been overhyping the iranian nuclear program for several years now, but this year their predictions have gotten especially overheated. never mind that they contradict the position of every other government on earth, israel wants to hit the iranian nuclear facilities, but they realize that they can’t do it without american help, or at least acquiescence (the u.s. controls iraqi airspace, which israeli bombers would have to pass through in such an attack). so they’ve been leaking stories about imminent iranian nukes, all of which turn out to be bullshit.
i’ll even bet you $100 that 3 months from the date of this post, or by october 23, 2008, there will be no iranian nuclear test (nor will there be an israeli or american attack on iranian nuclear facilities). any takers?
