No Media Outrage Over Offensive Rolling Stone McCain Cartoon

I was forwarded this link from a good friend, and I am at a loss for words.
The fact that this can get zero coverage clearly demonstrates that some people are blind to there own hypocrisy. I urge you to digg this story so that it gets seen by as many people as possible.

The Democrats are full of compassion for the suffering… Funny thing is, their compassion is for the Obamas’ heartrending struggle to pay off their schoo loans, and does not extend to John McCain being beaten within an inch of his life and left for dead in a puddle of blood and human waste.

Wow that is rediculous! As for the lack of media outrage… that is unfortunately expected

How can you say this? Do you really not know any Democrats?
I certainly agree that this cartoon has a degree of tastelessness, but didn’t you notice that it refers to one of the most heroic episodes in McCain’s life? I don’t think that McCain minds when people are reminded he was a POW. Oh, and the Democratic figures are depicted as war criminals…
I could buy that by comparing this election to his imprisonment, it belittles or minimizes his torture and imprisonment. McCain’s campaign hasn’t been outraged by this either as far as I can tell, which tends to drive the story.
Recap: Obama is outraged when he and his wife are depicted as terrorists. McCain is not outraged when he is portrayed as a POW and the Democrats as war criminals.
Megan, your input is conspicuously absent from our discussion earlier about oil prices. Considering as how your post sparked the conversation, I was surprised you didn’t jump in.

John,
No, the McCain campaign hasn’t expressed any outrage over this cartoon. Perhaps this is because McCain is, shall we say, the adult in the race? If McCain expressed outrage every time Obama and his supporters in the mainstream media impugned his record nd his character, he would never get time to do anything OTHER than be outraged. Being outraged on McCain’s behalf is my job. I say that only half in jest. As even you point out, this cartoon IS meant to belittle and minimize McCain’s experience as a POW. As the daughter of a Vietnam combat veteran, the one thing I cannot abide in this campaign is seeing lesser men degrade and discount McCain’s war record. It should outrage us all.
Meabwhile, OF COURSE the Obamas are outraged over the cover of The New Yorker. The Obamas seem to be perpetually outraged about something. They’re outraged that anyone would question his qualifications for the job - we’re supposed to take it on faith that he’ll know what to do about all our problems. They’re outraged that anyone would question any of Michelle’s wackier statements - even though the campaign has very deliberately sent her out in the role of a surrogate. They’re even outraged at their own supporters! When Obama flip-flopped first on campaign finance and then on FISA, his supporters protested that that wasn’t what they signed on to support, and Obama turned his outrage on the very people who got him where he is today! As much as I disagree with the direction in which they want to take America, I have to say that the Obama supporters are true idealists. When they dared point out that the Obama campaign was turning into something they didn’t like, he turned on them! Has there been a day of campaigning since Obama clinched the nomination that he hasn’t been outraged? For a presidential candidate - for someone who presumes to be an adult and a professional - Obama is awfully thin-skinned and awfully keen to be considered a victim.

Welcome Back John!

Thanks! Did you miss me?
Hey, what’s with this Megan person? Are you sure she’s a real person, not just an online parody of College Republican? I can’t tell if she’s serious.

Hi, John! Thanks for your concern, but I’m quite real.

Ooh John….. the words I would like to say to you.
Let start off with the words…..
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
If we ever put out a picture of Obama being tortured like that the nation would not laugh…. we would all be called racist and every other name in the book. Your absolutely right… McCain is not ashamed of being a POW. In fact, he is damn proud of it…. as he should be. At least he, unlike Obama, has done something more for his nation than just talk. If you think that this cartoon is even remotely appropriate you are sick and totally disrespectful. There is not “degree of distastefulness…..,” the whole thing is distasteful!
Ooh…. and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Megan several times….. she is quite real!

Well said SU11!
I was at the McCain Townhall in Wilkes-Barre and something you said really stood out for me, as it did at the townhall. McCain is a man that is truly seeking to serve his nation - not himself. I have yet to see otherwise from Barack Obama. And YES - I know he love to play the community involvement card, but it’s hard to take that seriously when he let the lobbyists and interest groups influence him more than his own community.
John McCain has served, and will always serve, something greater than himself - his country. That is one thing that not even the Liberal media can take away from him.
