Barack Obama tells parents to make sure their kids learn spanish

“I don’t understand when people are going around worrying about ‘we need to have english only’. They want to pass a law we want just english only. Now I agree that immigrants should learn english. I agree with that BUT understand this; instead of worrying about whether immigrants can learn english, they’ll learn english, you need to make sure your child can speak spanish!”

Obamas terrorist friends- William Ayers, and now Hatem El-hady

Obamas terrorist friends- William Ayers, and now Hatem El-hady

By now we have all heard and watched videos on Rev. Jeremiah Wright. If you follow politics closely you probably know about William Ayers and his wife Bernadine who was once on the FBI’s 10 most wanted list. At the time FBI also considered Bernadine the most dangerous female in the United States. Due to a technicality the couple was never jailed for the bombings. The Ayers have thrown at least one fundraiser for Obama in Chicago where they served on a charity board together. There is a great youtube video I recommend to learn more about the Ayers/Obama link.

Israel and the surrounding countries

Israel is in a very unique situation. They are right in the middle of several countries that want to do nothing more than to wipe the country and citizens of Israel off the map. Specifically, but not limited to Iran, Syria, and Lebanon.

While I was in Israel many of you may have heard about the terrorist attack in Jerusalem where an Israeli-Arab hijacked a bulldozer from a construction site and began running into people on the street, cars with children in it, and tourist buses. In this attack 57 were injured and I could be wrong but I believe there were at least 3 killed, one of which was a very young girl not older than 12.  I had been on that very street in that very same spot not more than 48 hours before. When I heard about the attack I and the other Americans on the trip were shocked, one girl even cried. However, our Israeli guards were not nearly as shocked as we, not because they do not care, but because this attack and pointless attacks like these are not uncommon in Israel. I know just reading this Israel may sound like a scary place and you would think that the Israeli people might live in fear, but this is not the case. Even with rockets being fired into Israel, bulldozers being hijacked for the purpose of murder, or suicide bombers, Israelis live their life. Even after rockets are fired they are very hesitant to retaliate, because they unlike many of the Arab terrorist committing these unthinkable acts care about life, and look for any and all other alternatives before a military response.

In Other News…

The PA College Republicans recently released their brand new website, making plenty of blogs throughout the state and even some national blogs. However, in the midst of all these blogs was one specific comment that struck me. The subscriber accused us of focusing too much on the website. There was an attitude as if this state federation were not doing our part as College Republicans.

If the website isn’t enough, where should we begin? It’s become apparent that of the youth registering to vote, the majority are registering as Democrats. This is where we should begin. In order to win an election as College Republicans, we must win the battle for the youth! But how do we get the youth vote over to the right side?

Guest Post: Eric Sweeney

From the Blog of Eric Sweeney, Vice President of Susquehanna University College Republicans (itsweeney):

So, it may be because The Colbert Report is on a two week break, or possibly since I just finished listening to “I Am America (And So Can You!)” on audio book this afternoon, but I have the sudden urge to give a tip of my hat, al a Colbert, to the Pennsylvania College Republican’s new web site.

As I have mentioned in the past, I am active in the Susquehanna chapter of the College Republicans, serving as the Vice-Chairman for ‘08-’09 and often have written about the events we attend or planned. We actually just launched a new version of our site last semester that was primarily of my design, but I must admit, the new state page puts my simple design to shame.

Intro: My Trip to Israel and the Middle East

On July 6 I returned from an 11 day trip to Israel. I was taken by an incredible organization call AIPAC and would encourage all to join and participate in AIPAC activities. What I will do is post this shorter into, then post info on specific topics so it is not just one enormous post and will be easier to navigate through.

Welcome to the New PA College Republicans

Welcome to our new site. We’ve worked very diligently to get this site launched by this point, and our hard work certainly paid off. This site is one which will appeal to a wider audience. For our supporters, you can see what we are up to on our blog and events page. For those looking to get involved, we have a page designated just for that. On this page, you can find your chapter, or you can contact us directly to start your own at your school. Finally, for those already members of this great federation, we have several resources on our internships page as well as our blog. We hope to give each chapter chair access to this blog and they will be able to update everyone on this page with what is happening on their campuses. We could have a great dialogue on this page. Opportunities in Your Own Backyard

Many College Republicans throughout Pennsylvania and around the United States spend their time doing activities within their own campus, whether it be fundraising, membership drives, or anything else that their chapter can come up with. However, most CRs don’t realize that there is a wealth of opportunity in a great and often untapped area: the surrounding local community. Most colleges and universities are in an area with an active Republican chapter. And even if there is not a local chapter, there is surely a county Republican chapter that is always looking for young people to get involved. By being an active College Republican in the community surrounding your college or university, you will be able to make a limitless amount of connections that may not have been possible had you not reached out beyond the walls of your school.
