What I Like about John McCain
In the build up to the Pennsylvania Primary much was made of Barack Obama’s comments about rural Pennsylvanians, ‘it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment.’ This quote exposed Obama’s true opinion of the average American.
Recently I was able to see John McCain at a townhall meeting in Pipersville, Pennsylvania, a small town in northern Bucks County. While Senator McCain may have some policy stances that are not the most popular, his call for comprehensive immigration reform last summer, he understands the average American.
John McCain doesn’t want to take away peoples guns; he wants people to celebrate their tradition of hunting. He doesn’t think religious people are backward like many Democrats do, but rather the backbone of what has made the United States the country it is today.
Senator McCain also understands the problems that face the average American. His biggest applause line was when he said ‘the last thing this country needs is more bureaucracy.’ Senator McCain wants to lower the tax burden on the average American, giving them more of their own money to spend at a time of record food and energy prices.
In the fall America cannot afford to elect someone who does not understand the average American, we must put someone in the White House who appreciates our traditions and values and knows our problems, that man is Senator John McCain.
