Carney…. Afraid??
Can someone please explain to me why Congressman Chris Carney won’t defend himself on the radio or agree to do a few debates with Republican candidate Chris Hackett. Carney has tentatively scheduled only one debate in September with Hackett. The Hackett campaign has contacted the Carney camp on numerous occasions to schedule a number of debates. Mr. Hackett’s campaign was proposing a series of debates, instead of just one, from July up until the election in November so as to educate the voters on the issues as well as to argue view points. The Carney camp wouldn’t even give them a call back or acknowledge their requests.
Congressman Carney is clearly hiding from his liberal voting record. He has also been asked numerous times to go on the Nancy and Kevin talk show as well as the Steve Corbett talk show and the Sue Henry show numerous times on WILK radio, a local North East PA station. He has either ignored the requests or refused to go on the show. Chris Hackett has gone on all three shows numerous times to willingly and publicly discuss the campaign issues and his position on them. Carney’s refusal to go on the shows has been a huge topic of conversation on the local talk show stations.
Isn’t it his duty as an incumbent Congressman to represent his district and defend “what he has done for the people in the 10th?” Isn’t it his duty to defend himself against a candidate who calls him a liberal. Just for the record Chris Carney labels himself a conservative Blue Dog Democrat. His voting record says the opposite. Shouldn’t he want to talk about the issues? Aren’t they important enough to debate about? Or is he afaid to be called out on his liberal record and reveal himself to his primarily republican district?

The Susquehanna University College Republicans hosted the primary debate, and we’d love to host one of these debates. I know that the SU Dems would too!
Will Congressman Carney come?

Simple answer: no.
Why? Because Carney, along with the rest of the Dems, believe that they are too good to have to debate Republicans. All they do is say “Bush lied, and you’re all going to lose your homes” and Americans fall for it every time. That’s why Conservatives…CONSERVATIVES…must show the way and outsmart the Dems.
To take a pathetic line from the Obama camp. Can we do it? Yes we can!
Seriously, I didn’t know a presidential campaign could be SO mature as to take a line from Bob the Builder.

Unfortunately, I think you are right. However, I hope that we can get Carney out to this. He owes it to his constituents.
Thanks Wilma!

The SU College Republicans have been actively courting both campaigns to participate in a debate this fall on our campus and enlisted the help of our Democratic counterparts to work with Carney.
