Guest Post by Melissa Hart, Candidate for US Congress

As the end of summer quickly approaches, college students prepare to head back to campus, and an integral part of the political process gains speed once more. College Republicans are more important than ever this year and you have an incredible opportunity to inform your peers and influence their votes in the November Election.

Grassroots activities are very important to my campaign. College Republicans can greatly assist in these efforts by campaigning not only on campus, but off campus as well. This year, the races will more than likely be close, so everything hour you give of your time will be even more important. Your efforts on the ground, from knocking on doors, to making phone calls, will greatly impact both my race and others around the state.

Having been a College Republican at Washington and Jefferson College, I am even more appreciative of what the group can do for candidates and the Republican Party. I am thankful for all that the College Republicans have done so far, and look forward to your help in the future. Thank you for all that you have done, and please continue your efforts – we cannot do it without you! Please contact my campaign at 724.779.4750 or info@peoplewithhart.com to volunteer or apply for an internship.

Melissa Hart

About Melissa Hart

Melissa Hart is running to take back the Fourth Congressional District seat she lost by a narrow margin in 2006. Hart was first elected to Congress in 2000. Despite a long Democratic history in the District, she served three terms, being re-elected by wide margins. She was the first Republican to represent the district in more than two decades, and the first Republican woman ever to represent Pennsylvania in either house of Congress. Before her election to Congress, Melissa served for ten years in the Pennsylvania Senate, where she chaired the Senate Finance Committee and earned a reputation as a tireless advocate for Pennsylvania taxpayers. Melissa is a native of McCandless in Pittsburgh’s North Hills. She is a graduate of North Allegheny High School, Washington & Jefferson College, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

I would ask that all posts not be questions directed to Melissa Hart. Asking her questions through this blog such as, would you vote for House Bill #### or what will you do if California does not support offshore drilling will not be answered for obvious reasons, so at least in this situation questions/posts like these would be pointless.

  2. John Says:

Sorry Anthony. I forgot how much you guys like candidates who run for office with no ideas and a tenuous grasp of the issues!

I know it’s unreasonable to expect a congressional candidate to actually describe the kinds of things he or she would support in congress! I mean, heck, who really cares about policy! That’s for dorks!

John, Melissa wasn’t posting to promote her campaign, she was posting to inform readers of how fellow CRs can help out on the campaign trail. She describes quite nicely what she stands for and against on her campaign web site.

And why does your logo on your web site look like the @$$ is saluting Hitler? Subliminal messaging?

  4. Katie Klein Says:

    John—
If you had questions I’m sure you could call Melissas office or write to her through her website. She is busy and I doubt she is checking this website on a nightly basis for questions lol. Direct them to the appropriate place and as long as you are polite I’m sure they will be answered :)

  5. Katie Klein Says:

And in case you are reading this Melissa thank you for taking the time to contribute to our blog.

Well okay. Before you Drexel Dems (or anyone else ready to wimper) get your BVDs in a bind, I was just joshin around with the logo comment. It was just a play on the thought that Huckabee’s Christmas ad was subliminally messaging to Christian radicals etc. Hence, subliminally messaging leftist radicals (I mean, the donkey hoof IS extended straight out into the air.) That was all, sorry for the sarcastic humor.

BTW, I did at least enjoy your blog’s column on the environmental policy. I had wondered why he didn’t have it up there on his web site. Then, I looked at JohnMcCain.com and found that “AMERICAN ENERGY” is the second link listed. Might want to update the blog.

    Toodles.

    John,
Do you think before you talk or post things? Apparently not… I simply was stating that you asking a bunch of questions directed towards Melissa Hart is pointless. As Katie said, realistically Melissa Hart is not checking the College Republican Blog every hour, day, or ever for that matter. I think it is safe to say she is doing more important things like running a United States Congressional Race. As for you comment about “our” candidates not grasping issues… really? You make yourself look dumb with comments like that, that’s all I am going to say about that. I have no problem with you or your liberal friends participating on our blog, but at least try to make valid claims and post things that will actually contribute to the conversation.
