The Great Republican Revolt
This past Friday, August 1, something miraculous happened in the House of Representatives. Instead of grabbing their ankles for the Democrats’ adjournment resolution, House Republicans decided to act like Conservative and began a five hour protest on the House Floor. The reason for this unprecedented display of patriotism was Pelosi and Co.’s refusal to allow a vote on off-shore drilling. She turned off the C-SPAN cameras, the mics, and the lights. But she couldn’t silence our voice. The People were invited to our House. They were allowed on the Floor to join in the revolt. Representative after Representative gave stirring speeches. When it was over, the Sons of Liberty left the Floor to cheers of “USA! USA! USA!” And they’re still in Washington, working to bring energy independence to the country, demanding President Bush or Pelosi bring Congress back.
But the way I see it is that this goes far beyond energy. If a perfect storm befalls upon this nation in the form of Barack Obama, House Speaker Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Reid commanding a veto, filibuster-proof majority in both Chambers of Congress. Not only our pocketbooks, but can our Liberty survive that? I feel it can so long as the Conservatives in both Chambers stand up and fight.
To those Congressional Republicans who consider themselves, firstly, Conservatives. To those of you who were there on the House Floor and who were there in thought and prayer, I thank you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, thank you, thank you. You are our last hope in Washington. Now some advice to you. Be leaders. Engage. Debate. Don’t be quiet. Know Congressional parliamentary procedure and use them to your advantage. Bring the facts to the American people in any and every way possible, no matter how difficult or unpopular the issue. Talk to your Democrat colleagues and insist that our way is the only way. Remember the government that governs least governs best. Remember where societies go when the government gets too much control. Remember the family unit is the foundation of the nation. Remember the Military and what they do for Freedom. Remember our Constitution and Bill of Rights and what the Founders intended them to mean. And remember the People.
We’ve got a long road ahead of us. It may not be fun or pretty, but it needs traveled all the same. America is being continually threatened by ever expanding government and dependency. I, for one, am not going to take it lying down. It looks like House Republicans aren’t, either. The question now is will the rest of America? Will you?

I find it repulsive that Democrats are so much for “open and honest debate” and “complete transparency” in government, yet when a crucial debate about the largest concern facing them comes up, they walk out and go on vacation. Must be nice. I’m not on vacation. I have to work to put food on the table just like every other American out there.
What’s Pelosi doing? Flying on her jet (that I’m helping to pay for!) back to California to hit the beaches. Or, I should say, her private abode.
Nice. Thanks Dems.
