Russia Invades Georgia: What Does This Mean for America?

As the world turns its head towards Beijing, Russia has seized the opportunity of an occupied limelight and invaded Georgia. I cannot say I’m surprised. Just the hour or so of research I’ve done on the Ossetia-Georgia conflict shows that something was eventually to happen. With no ceasefire in sight and the quick advance of Russian troops beyond South Ossetia, things may escalate further.

Guest Post by Melissa Hart, Candidate for US Congress

As the end of summer quickly approaches, college students prepare to head back to campus, and an integral part of the political process gains speed once more. College Republicans are more important than ever this year and you have an incredible opportunity to inform your peers and influence their votes in the November Election.

American Soldier’s E-mail

Last week I received this e-mail and I knew right away that I had to post it. This e-mail is from an American Soldier that is not overly involved in politics, but this was his big step into it. Obama is a liar and personally, I don’t want a president that is a liar. If I ever met Sen. Obama, my serious question to him would be, “Who wouldn’t want to spend time with our troops?” They fight for OUR freedoms! So…here’s the e-mail:

The Great Republican Revolt

This past Friday, August 1, something miraculous happened in the House of Representatives. Instead of grabbing their ankles for the Democrats’ adjournment resolution, House Republicans decided to act like Conservative and began a five hour protest on the House Floor. The reason for this unprecedented display of patriotism was Pelosi and Co.’s refusal to allow a vote on off-shore drilling. She turned off the C-SPAN cameras, the mics, and the lights. But she couldn’t silence our voice. The People were invited to our House. They were allowed on the Floor to join in the revolt. Representative after Representative gave stirring speeches. When it was over, the Sons of Liberty left the Floor to cheers of “USA! USA! USA!” And they’re still in Washington, working to bring energy independence to the country, demanding President Bush or Pelosi bring Congress back.

Obama Flips, Now to Back Offshore Drilling, Maybe

“Shifting from his previous opposition to expanded offshore drilling, the Illinois senator told a Florida newspaper he could get behind a compromise with Republicans and oil companies to prevent gridlock over energy.”

A little too late, Senator. He conveniently waited until the house Dems shut the lights off on the house Republicans to announce this CHANGE. This is politics as usual.

Is Obama Really Pro-Choice?

As the election nears, one issue seems to have been given the backseat to the economy, energy and Iraq: education.  McCain and Obama have fundamental differences about how to change the education system in America and one of the most talked about differences is school choice or vouchers.

Recently Senator Obama pandered to the American Federation of Teachers convention when he said “What I do oppose is using public money for private school vouchers. We need to focus on fixing and improving our public schools; not throwing our hands up and walking away from them.”

Political Bias in New Media

With the advent of the Internet common citizens now more than ever before around the United States and world find themselves better able to project their own political thoughts. This fact is particularly true as social trends in the Web 2.0 generation take hold. Social news websites such as Digg , Reddit , and Propeller allow users to vote a particular story to the front page, demand and direct massive traffic to other websites throughout the Internet.

Obama: Inflating Tires is the Solution

Barack Obama said inflating your tires will increase gas mileage and therefore, we don’t need to drill. What?! Again, dodging the issues.

This is getting very frustrating. When will he learn? The American people are realizing it. The polls are showing it. He obviously hasn’t yet.

And he still argues that the surge failed, even though he deleted content off the website, since he hasn’t completely made up his mind.

FLIP FLOP.

…more to come.

“Get On it Hollywood!”

It is no secret that Hollywood is notoriously known for being overtly liberal. Few are surprised when an Oscar acceptance speech turns into a diatribe about the Iraq war, or celebrities stump for Democrats running for office. What many often overlook are the (decidedly small) ranks of Republicans who are actors for television of movies. Sure, Ronald Reagan and Arnold Schwarzenegger are by far the most prominent, but there are other conservatives populating movie trailers and back lots.

Back in 2004, AMC aired a documentary called “Rated R: Republicans in Hollywood” which first opened my eyes to a counter to the liberal Ben Afflecks and Barbra Streisands that seem to take many of the headlines when it came to support for politicians. They highlighted a few individuals who I hadn’t known were conservative - Patricia Heaton (”Everybody Loves Raymond”), Pat Sajak (”Wheel of Fortune”), Drew Carey (if I remember right, he described himself as a libertarian or ‘a conservative who likes to get high’), Adam Sandler and Heather Locklear, as well as others who I knew, or weren’t surprised to hear, like Bruce Willis, Mel Gibson, Ben Stein, Donald Trump and Chuck Norris.

The list goes on of Republican actors both past and present: Fred Thompson, Frank Sinatra, Charleton Heston (”cold, dead hands” anyone?), John Wayne, Bob Hope, Britney Spears, James Woods, Kid Rock, Kelsey Grammer, “The Rock” (spoke at the Republican Convention in 2004), Jessica Simpson, Jon Voight, Alice Cooper, Jim Belushi, Clint Eastwood (he actually served as a Republican mayor of a small town in California from ‘86-’88), Brooks and Dunn, Rip Torn, Sonny Bono, Tom Selleck and undoubtedly more.

Guest Post, by Mike Adams: The Al Jazeera Constitution

“It is puzzling to the court that the promotion of tolerance would take the appearance of such intolerance as is contained in the religious materials distributed with the Safe Space program.” Federal Judge Owen Forrester writing on diversity at Georgia Tech.

The Atlanta-Journal Constitution (AJC) may have taken the place of The New York Times as both the most liberal and least credible paper in America. And Andrea Jones may well be the least professional reporter at the AJC.

Some will recall Jones’ crass assertion that plaintiffs in the recent Sklar v. Clough federal case against Georgia Tech were suing for the right to be “intolerant.” When I called her out on this, she responded via email suggesting I lacked credibility by saying that I was just a “blogger.” This is significant because I have never “blogged” nor inhaled while doing so. In other words, Jones used a factual inaccuracy in an effort to defend herself against my accusation that she is prone to factual inaccuracies. People like Andrea Jones make my job very easy. Now, I can even wear pajamas while I work.

Of course, when a federal judge stated that, in this case, he was surprised by the level of intolerance in the name of tolerance exhibited by Georgia Tech, Jones was not there to give the statement the ink it deserved. But she did help Tech lie about crucial aspects of the case, which have now been brought to light by Judge Owen Forrester. (more…)
