Common Courtesy…

Over the past few weeks, I have been reading all of the comments on the PACR blog, and I have a few things to say:

1. Please refrain from attacks that are directed toward any particular person. I understand that many of you have strong opinions about certain issues/individuals, but I will not allow this blog to turn into a negative free-for-all. You can properly express your opinions without the use of dergatory speech. A certain decorum is expected on this site, and comments that are considered to be especially distasteful will not be accepted.

2. Please make sure that the comments you are making are actually associated with the post you are commenting on. Questions that have nothing to do with the topic at hand will be removed, as they seem to do nothing but cause trouble and detract from the original purpose of the blog, which is to create discussion around the topic at hand.

3. Please remember that people are busy. If you post a comment and do not receive an immediate response, you are not being ignored; the author of the post is probably just making sure that their school work (which should be the top priority of any college student), is being completed.

All of that being said, remember this: We’re all adults… I shouldn’t even have to post something like this, but I feel it necessary. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact the PA Federation of College Republicans at pacollegerepublicans@gmail.com

Sincerely,

Jessica Thompson

PA Federation of College Republicans Endorse Thought! Creative and Introduce Special Website Offer for State Federations

The PA Federation of College Republicans announced today their official endorsement of Thought! Creative, the company behind the recently-debuted PACR website (www.pacollegerepublicans.com), as well as a personal endorsement of the site’s creator, Vincent Arezzi.

State Chairman Anthony Pugliese stated, ”We were very pleased with the website developed by Thought! Creative. The quality of work and attention to detail exceeded our expectations”.

Through our partnership with Thought! Creative, the PA CRs have negotiated a special offer for any state organization looking to enhance their presence on the web.  Any State CR Federation looking for functionality similar to the PA Website but with their own unique design can have it for under $2,000. This package would include a Home page, Board Member Bios page, Events List page (with google calendar integration), a contact page, donate page, sign-up page, youtube, flickr, google analytics and wordpress integration.

State Co-Chairman Mike Ubbens commented, “Our previous website had very little traffic and was difficult to update. Now we can easily update the events in Google calendar and add blog posts as we desire.  Our traffic has improved greatly and our blogging community is growing.

For more details on this package please contact Thought! Creative at info@thoughtcreative.com and ask for the “State CR package”.

9/11 Never Forget Project

One of the most powerful and valuable projects that I have ever participated in throughout my years in college is the 9/11 Never Forget Project. This program, which is sponsored by the Young America’s Foundation, centers around a memorial created to remember all of those who perished on September 11th, 2001. The memorial involves a display of 2,977 flags, one for every person who died that day. It is important to note that this project, even though it is commonly sponsored by College Republican groups, is not a political event in nature; anyone is welcome to participate in this event.

As the President of the Robert Morris University College Republicans, I headed up this project on our campus. We brought together volunteers of every political belief and spent three hours on Monday, September 10th, 2007, creating the tribute on the front lawn of our student center. On Tuesday, September 11th, all of the students, faculty, and staff were asked to participate in a moment of silence (which was voluntary) as the bells on campus chimed at 9:11am. We left the memorial up until the afternoon of Friday the 14th to give the campus community a time to reflect. We received several wonderful comments (from individuals of various political beliefs) and it is something that we look forward to doing again this year.

As I stated before, this IS NOT a political event. Those that try to make this project out to be a political event are missing the point. The point is to make light of a major event that happened in the lives of college students today. My parents can remember where they were when they heard that John F. Kennedy, Jr. had been assassinated; our generation can remember where they were when we heard that the Twin Towers had fallen. I have found that this particular event brings people of all beliefs together, regardless of what anyone may say.

If you are interested in hosting this event at your school, please contact Patrick Coyle from the Young America’s Foundation at 1-800-USA-1776.
