Obama Campaign to Press: “Use This”

Yes, I am back. I’m sure my left-leaning friends have been waiting for my return.

Apparently the Obama campaign has already released its talking points for tonight’s last Presidential debate. I wonder if this is what the media will sound like upon “reviewing” the debate?

An email from Press Secretary for Obama Camp (tip of the hat to Drudge Report):

To: Sean Smith [s***mith@barackobama.com]* This is John McCain’s last chance to turn this race around and somehow convince the American people that his erratic response to this economic crisis doesn’t disqualify him from being President.

* Just this weekend the weekend, John McCain vowed to “whip Obama’s you-know-what” at the debate, and he’s indicated that he’ll be bringing up Bill Ayers to try to distract voters.

Take a Moment to Remember

From an enewsletter post at Susquehanna University:

“As students wake up and faculty return to campus on 9/11, they will notice 2,977 flags placed in grass near the fountain outside of Deg. Each flag commemorates a life lost seven years ago. The flags will remain in the grass for a few days to allow the campus community to take time to reflect on the events of the tragic day. The SU College Republicans acquired the flags, however a number of SU students helped the club members place them in the ground. Thank you to everyone who helped! ”

Please take a moment of silence to remember those whose lives were lost on this tragic day. No matter what political affliliation, this is a day to remember our friends and loved ones.

Obama Flips, Now to Back Offshore Drilling, Maybe

“Shifting from his previous opposition to expanded offshore drilling, the Illinois senator told a Florida newspaper he could get behind a compromise with Republicans and oil companies to prevent gridlock over energy.”

A little too late, Senator. He conveniently waited until the house Dems shut the lights off on the house Republicans to announce this CHANGE. This is politics as usual.

Obama: Inflating Tires is the Solution

Barack Obama said inflating your tires will increase gas mileage and therefore, we don’t need to drill. What?! Again, dodging the issues.

This is getting very frustrating. When will he learn? The American people are realizing it. The polls are showing it. He obviously hasn’t yet.

And he still argues that the surge failed, even though he deleted content off the website, since he hasn’t completely made up his mind.

FLIP FLOP.

…more to come.

McCain Surges to 4-Point Lead

I found this relevant to previous comments to one of my posts. I find it to no surprise that McCain made this jump in the polls. He’s been doing the right things - being honest with the people. Is the American public realizing who Senator Barack Obama really is?

I hope so. Only time will tell.

The Press Reach Desperate Ends

In an article on CNN.com yesterday, Chris Lawrence sought to paint a dreary picture for young conservatives and John McCain. He contested that the youth “are worried about McCain’s appeal”. He infers that young Republicans just are not excited about John McCain. He based most of his article off of a quote from what came to be known as a false source (see both here,  and here). Surprise, surprise, yet another media outlet bends information to fit their perspective.

Yes, there seems to be, at the time, a bigger crowd for Obama. But are young Republicans “worried” about John McCain? I don’t think so. On cyber space, he has less presence, but we have yet to find out how much that will amount to. The College Republicans have always been the superior grassroots organization. Second to none. And they plan on continuing to do so this year as well. Not only that, but the GOP knows that, McCain knows that, and the rest of our candidates know that. Instead of going on facebook, or posting youtube videos, we are going door to door, making phone calls, and organizing rallies on campus.

No Media Outrage Over Offensive Rolling Stone McCain Cartoon

Rolling Stone Cartoon

I was forwarded this link from a good friend, and I am at a loss for words.

The fact that this can get zero coverage clearly demonstrates that some people are blind to there own hypocrisy. I urge you to digg this story so that it gets seen by as many people as possible.

Facebook: How to Maintain a Clean and Marketable Page

I’m willing to bet that no less than 96 percent of those reading this article are on facebook at least once a day. And even further, I am willing to bet that of those 96 percent, at least 99 percent end up leaving facebook groups that send persistent messages to the group repeatedly. I know that I have, and will in the future if they continue. This becomes a problem for chapter chairmen (and chair women) when we try to mobilize our members. Facebook is the quickest and easiest way to do so, but it must be done in a way that will not overwhelm members.

My Final Response

Let me preface this most recent article with the following statements: This is my last article/response on this issue. It’s taken me a while to decide whether or not I should post the following article, and I will tell you why. This country becomes more divided every day. Divided on issues simply because the other side thinks it is a good idea. The kind of bickering that has persisted thus far becomes only a portent to the future of this country. I have spoken with several close relatives and friends about this issue, and have reflected over the best way to handle it. Though I wrote an article filled with passion, I understand that we cannot agree on everything. However, when it comes to the point when we get to arguing on things we actually agree on, I get very frustrated with the situation. Therefore, our invitation to the Drexel College Democrats is still open, and will be until the Drexel College Republicans hopefully host the event. It wasn’t hard for us to honor those killed in other circumstances, I don’t understand why this is any different. Maybe you believe this is not the right time nor place, but please remember this invitation in the future.

My Response:

Rhetoric is the only thing the Democrats have to argue anymore. This early into the Presidential year, and we have not only the Democratic Presidential nominee drinking the Liberal koolaid, but the College Dems are too. The Drexel College Democrats have sought out any and every way to denounce our promotion of 9-11 Remembrance day. Not surprisingly, there is little substance to their argument, as is the same to any Democrat’s policy. They just throw in some buzz words here and there, and the job is done.

In Other News…

The PA College Republicans recently released their brand new website, making plenty of blogs throughout the state and even some national blogs. However, in the midst of all these blogs was one specific comment that struck me. The subscriber accused us of focusing too much on the website. There was an attitude as if this state federation were not doing our part as College Republicans.

If the website isn’t enough, where should we begin? It’s become apparent that of the youth registering to vote, the majority are registering as Democrats. This is where we should begin. In order to win an election as College Republicans, we must win the battle for the youth! But how do we get the youth vote over to the right side?
